Temporary Workaround for Windows Unzipping Issue Using 7-zip

We are aware that some users are currently experiencing problems with the Windows unzipping feature. Our team is actively working with our vendors to address this issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have developed a workaround that involves using a program called 7-zip to unzip your files.

 

Process to Follow

  1. Report the Issue: If you're facing an issue with the Windows unzipping feature, please submit a ticket to our help center. This helps us to track the number of affected users, and ensure we're keeping you updated about our progress in resolving the issue.

  2. Install 7-zip: Once you've submitted your ticket, our team will remotely install 7-zip on your computer. 7-zip is a free and open-source file archiver, a utility used to place groups of files within compressed containers known as "archives". It's safe, widely used, and recognized for its high compression ratio.

How to Unzip Files Using 7-zip

After 7-zip has been installed on your machine, you can follow the steps below to unzip files:

  1. Locate the File: Navigate to the compressed file you want to unzip.

  2. Right-Click the File: Once you've found the file, right-click on it. This will open a context menu.

    1. If you are on Windows 11, you will see this menu. Ensure to select "Show more options"

  3. Choose 7-zip: In the context menu, find and hover your mouse over '7-zip.' This will open a sub-menu.

  4. Extract Files: In the sub-menu, you have several options to extract the file. If you want to extract the files in the same location as the original compressed file, select 'Extract Here'. If you want to extract the files to a different location, select 'Extract Files...', and a window will pop up asking you to select the destination.

 

Remember to choose the location carefully, especially if the compressed file contains multiple files and folders. It's often a good idea to extract to a new, empty folder to keep things organized.
