OneDrive is showing the following error:
What is the cause of this error?
This error is caused when a shortcut is added to your OneDrive, and an attempt is made to sync the folder.
When this happens, a folder will show up in your OneDrive that looks like this:
Why is this a problem?
This error stops you from syncing files to your computer via OneDrive.
1. Go to Your Online OneDrive
- Open: https://sentrymgt-my.sharepoint.com
- On the webpage, click My Files on the left side.
2. Find the Problem Folder
- Look for folders with a Link Icon and the words Owner: “Team’s Name”.
- Please be aware that the visual representation of the icon may vary based on the web version.
3. Remove the Folder
- Click the circle on the left side of the folder. It will look the same as the image below after you have clicked.
- Then click Remove at the top.
4. Check the OneDrive Sync Status
- To see if it’s syncing, click on the OneDrive “blue cloud” icon at the bottom right of your screen.
- After you click, you’ll see if it’s syncing or done.
5. Delete the Folder on Your Computer
- Go to your OneDrive folder on your computer.
- Find the folder from before and delete it.
- Note: This is not deleting your files. It’s just deleting the “link” to them so that you can sync your OneDrive properly.
6. Sync Again from Teams/SharePoint
- In Teams, go to Files and click Open in SharePoint.
- In SharePoint, click Documents on the left (sometimes it may say Shared Documents).
- Click SYNC to begin syncing everything from SharePoint to your computer
- After you click the button to begin the sync, you receive a popup to Open in Microsoft OneDrive. You can select “Open Microsoft OneDrive,” and it will start syncing. You may not see your files immediately, but they will all appear once it is c
omplete.
